updates, and...

a view out a window of the sun coming out from clouds

It is my 10th anniversary of opening my practice in Portland! I have been a LMT for 15 years, and the vast majority of that has been here, with you. So thank you for your support of my practice, and thank you for letting me support you.

At Apex Wellness Clinic, Dr. Rebecca Schacker has retired and Dr. Krystal LaPlante, DC has returned to a full time schedule at the clinic. I refer all of my clients looking for chiropractic work to Dr. K, she is attentive, thorough and a delightfully collaborative practitioner.

I hope you are all navigating this moment with gentleness and finding (or seeking out) the resources around you that fill you. I have had the privilege of working with a handful of you in the past few days, and I have been sharing these home-care suggestions and wanted to pass them along, in case you find them helpful.

  • "Angry" livers:
You might have tight shoulders, and/or feel sluggish, irritable, or have a short fuse.

Try: dry brushing, lemon juice in warm water first thing in the mornings, herbal teas with dandelion, licorice, turmeric or ginger (I love Smith Tea's Dandy Detox).

  • "Stuck" kidneys:
You might have middle to low back pain or tightness, or feel a little scared, anxious/worried.

Try: Constructive Rest/laying on your back and planting your feet (knees up), or tapping the bottoms of your feet.

  • Grief and sadness:
Your chest might feel heavy, or a tightness in the front of your neck.

Try: deep breathing, sighing, or singing along to your favorite song at full volume!

  • Tight jaw and temples:
Try: gently resting your face in your hands, top of palms in your cheekbones, fingertips to temples and move your hands in a circular motion, staying in the same place or slowly moving along your cheekbone to your temples, OR dragging your palms down and gently pulling your jaw open. Also, check in with your tongue and see if it can just rest in your mouth.

My schedule is open and up-to-date through the end of the year. I hope to work with you sometime soon.

Sending you all moments of joy and pleasant distractions.
